
Perhaps you remember that great scene in Enter the Dragon, where the villain asks: “What yer-style” Bruce Lee? If the top as the statement seems, points to the differences of the art, and how confusing can be something like sex. In no art is this so true as in the art of Kenpo.
Some people think that the style of Ed Parker created Kenpo, but he only really popular. And, to be honest, he more than likely taken to the confusion of this art. He created five different versions, and he drew from Karate and Kung Fu, and what happens to his mind that day.
Kenpo began his career in Japan. There is some confusion about the correct spelling, some people say that Kenpo and Kempo some say. Kenpo martial arts generally refers from China, Kempo, and refers to the more Japanese-oriented art.
There are unclear on this matter, because there is no agreement. It is not always shared history. That is, Kenpo, although it usually means “Fist Law,” is really means “Quanfa”, the kung fu.
The most important branches of Kenpo in the United States come from James Mitose. Mr. mitosis is sometimes a controversial teacher because he was convicted of murder and extortion. He served his sentence in Folsom Prison.
Mr. Mitose was the teacher of William Chow, Edmund Parker taught. Master Parker, as already mentioned popularized the art of Kenpo. People living with Mr. Chow also studied Adriano Emperado, Ralph Castro, Sam Kuaho and many others.
The name of art taught that these people (and others) Shaolin Kenpo, Kajukenpo, American Kenpo, Kara-Ho Kempo, and so on. There are a legion of high school students. Kenpo also continue to grow conceptually, drawing on many other arts techniques, forms, applications and so on.
Although Kenpo grew quickly, and although the line is sometimes confused, just as the art itself, there is much value. Many people get their start in the handy “Strip Mall Dojo’s,” and then branch out. However, defining the true kenpo roots and influences, and a huge task list
